The concept is simple..

Promote someone’s products or services and receive commissions for leads or sales. But what exactly do you need to do to make money online? Let’s discuss eight important steps to become a successful Affiliate.

1. Brainstorm website Ideas

You are going to need a website in some form or another so that you can promote merchant products. What are people looking for that’s currently difficult to find? Is there a topic you know a great deal about where information and related products could be provided to customers on a website? Do you already have an amazing product in mind that you know there is a huge demand for and want to build a site around?

Consider website ideas where you can tie in merchant products that your target market will be receptive to. Are there any sites devoted to the subject? Are there merchants offering products that you could include on your site? If so, your idea could be very successful!

2. Create a small one page website..

This one page website is called a landing page with the goal to immediately send customers to the merchant. You just act as a quick go-between. Their only purpose is to connect customers with the product they want as a fast as possible. They fill a current void and grow over time. For example, if you know a whole lot about growing tomatoes, you might have a niche site all about tomatoes. People listen to recommendations about products and visit merchants you’ve recommended because of the helpful content you provide on your website.

You can either create a small one page website from scratch using a program like FrontPage or Dream Weaver or start a blog. (i.e. Blogger.) Although more limited on the design, the latter will allow you to quickly start posting your relevant content and promoting your affiliate products.

3. Pick a Domain Name

A domain name is the name of your website and how people will know you online. Taking the tomato site example from above, a good name for your website might be Tomato Zone. It’s also easy to say over the phone and for customers to remember.

4. Get your site hosted..

There are tons of hosting companies out there with different packages and prices. I always recommend monthly payments instead of locking in with a long-term contract in the beginning so that if you are unsatisfied after a few months, you can always change companies.
Suffice it to say, I learned to be careful.

5. Add Lots and Lots of Unique Content..

If you’re building a niche website, start adding lots of rich content and keep adding it on a regular basis. If you’re recommending a merchant product, review it on your site or compare it to others on the market. In the tomato website example, you should include how to plant tomatoes, how to make them get bigger, the varieties, etc. You can find articles on your topic at many article websites online and include them on your site.

6. Try to find merchants with affiliate programs..

Not sure where to find merchants with affiliate programs? Try Googling your website topic and ‘affiliate program’. You can also visit one of the many affiliate program directories for related affiliate programs. That is, you get them to buy from the merchant once and you receive commissions each month or each re-order thereafter. These types of links always do better than a banner ad because it’s interpreted more as a recommendation by you and less like advertising.

What goes through the mind of your customer is, “this site is so helpful – they really know what they’re talking about – maybe I’ll check out this product!” Bam, you have a sale. Or once you have a good page rank, traffic, or reputation, charge websites to put their ad on your site. It’s free and you’ll earn money each time someone clicks one of the links.

7. Add a Newsletter List..

A newsletter list (mailing list) is one of the simplest ways to touch base with your website visitors. You then have a list of email addresses of people interested in what you have to say and who are receptive.

8. Become an expert..

The best way to accomplish this is for people to see you as an expert in the field. People reading your articles will see you as a valuable resource and visit your website to find out more. Not only will these methods increase visits from readers, they also help your search engine rankings.

You can also pay for advertising on high page rank sites or use PPC advertising like Google AdWords where you only pay when someone clicks your link.

In Conclusion.

It may take some time to get rolling but once you establish your website as a valuable resource, you can become extremely successful working from home. You have nothing to lose.

Every Affiliate Marketer is always looking for the successful market that gives the biggest paycheck. Sometimes they think it is a magic formula that is readily available for them. Actually, it is more complicated than that. It is just good marketing practices that have been proven over years of hard work and dedication.

There are tactics that have worked before with online marketing and is continuing to work in the online affiliate marketing world of today. With these top three marketing tips, you will be able to able to increase your sales and survive in the affiliate marketing online.

What are these three tactics?

1. Using unique web pages to promote each separate product you are marketing.

Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on each and every product and nothing more.

Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding on what the product can do to those who buys them. Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

You can also write articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive compelling and include calls to act on the information. Each headline should attract the readers to try and read more, even contact you. Highlight your special points. This will help your readers to learn what the page is about and will want to find out more.

2. Offer free reports to your readers.

If possible position them at the very top side of your page so it they simply cannot be missed. Try to create autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who input their personal information into your sign up box. According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.

Only two things can possibly happen with the web page alone: closed sale or the prospect leaving the page and never return again. By placing useful information into their inboxes at certain specified period, you will remind them of the product they thought they want later and will find out that the sale is closed. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.

Focus on important points like how your product can make life and things easier and more enjoyable. Include compelling subject lines in the email. As much as possible, avoid using the word “free” because there are still older spam filters that dumps those kind of contents into the junk before even anyone reading them first. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not avail of your products and services.

3. Get the kind of traffic that is targeted to your product

Just think, if the person who visited your website has no interest whatsoever in what you are offering, they will be among those who move on and never come back. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. This way you can locate publications that are focusing on your target customers and what you have put up might just grab their interest.

Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week, with at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site in a day.

Always remember that only 1 out of 100 people are likely to buy your product or get your services. If you can generate as much as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, which means you can make 10 sales based on the average statistic.

The tactics given above does not really sound very difficult to do, if you think about it. It just requires a little time and an action plan on your part.

Try to use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs. You can end maintaining a good source of income and surviving in this business that not all marketers can do. Besides, think of the huge paychecks you will be receiving…

Affiliate Marketing Forums are a great place to learn and promote affiliate programs but you must choose the right ones to utilize. Let’s take a look at why it’s important to find the best list of Affiliate Marketing Forums.

Don’t choose Forums that are not busy or very active.

Take a peek at each thread and look for the time/date when the last post was initiated. Why? Not only do you build a reputation in these Forums you undoubtedly pick up knowledge of your own that you can utilize in your own business.

You will have wasted your time as people do check who stays actively involved in the Forums and who was just there promoting themselves. Some will be “follow” links and some will be “do follow” links but any backlink to your site is a good one.

This will help your site not only gain exposure but increase your website rankings. The advantages listed above could be yours and be very beneficial to your overall online business exposure and ultimate profitability.

Some individuals prefer to simply sign up, and market on their own. Perhaps they prefer using standard print advertising or direct mail.

Others, however, feel a little “lost at sea” when contemplating not only where and how to begin marketing their new opportunity, but what methods of marketing might be effective to begin with.

This is where the best affiliate marketing programs come in. These are things that give the new affiliate marketer a leg up.

Aversion to Prospecting:

It is no secret that many individuals who are looking for a way to earn money from home are seeking a 100% internet home based business because they have an aversion to prospecting.

Fear of prospecting is very real…

Some of the best affiliate marketing programs teach online methods of marketing where you can draw others to you and your website without speaking a word in person to your sales prospect or recruit.

Considering “outsourcing”…

Some of these affiliate marketing systems have an option where you can “outsource” the follow up calls to your prospects once they opt in to receive your program information. Perhaps, in time, their confidence will build, and they will feel comfortable calling their prospects; however, if this is not that time, then an affiliate marketing system that offers assistance in following up with sales prospects or recruits is a very valuable tool to have in the belt.

There’s one more very valuable thing about having that prospect follow up service: You can honestly tell your prospects, if they have an aversion to talking to prospects themselves, that closing the sale really IS easily duplicated- and you can tell them that they were, in fact, products of the same system that they could be using.

Internet Marketing Blog:

Web copy writing is not limited to writing for your website’s home page. In today’s market, if an affiliate marketing program or system is worth its salt, it will offer an internet marketing blog for you to develop. It is imperative that you consistently – very consistently – provide fresh content on your affiliate marketing blog. The importance of this cannot be understated.

While the best affiliate marketing programs are still going to teach advertising techniques such as email marketing, banner ads, pay per click, etc. There is no way around it today. Keep them in mind as you move forward into your home based business, and seek out the best affiliate marketing program you can find.

The website owner will place advertisements on his websites to either help sell the merchant’s products or to send potential customers to the merchant’s website, all in exchange for a share of the profits.

Failure to do your due diligence can mean ending up with a merchant who refuses to pay commission fees or close down his business without paying affiliate commissions.

You must also employ excellent marketing techniques in promoting or selling the products to consumers. There must be a demand for the product the merchant is offering.

Make sure the product or service has a tremendous growth potential.

The commission must be substantial and offer multiple tier payouts on new affiliates that you refer.

Check the stability and credibility of the company.

It would also help that the company has an offline office or presence. Find a company that provides marketing and training support so that you can maximize your marketing efforts.

The most important criteria mentioned above is choosing the best affiliate marketing program that pays a high residual commission on the sale of products or services with recurring billing.
